Jay Reatard's Old Band Joins Wavves

Last month, Jay Reatard's rhythm section-- bassist Stephen Pope and drummer Billy Hayes-- quit Reatard's band. (It led to this spectacularly irate Tweet from Reatard himself.) But now, it looks like the dust has settled.
As previously reported, Reatard has himself a brand new rhythm section. And as for Pope and Hayes, we can now report that the two of them have hooked up with yet another volatile indie frontman (and creative speller): Wavves mastermind Nathan Williams.
Earlier today, RMike in Fort Wayne sent us the YouTube clip you'll see below, of Wavves playing in Mexico with Pope's unmistakable wildman hair rocking out next to Williams. Now, we've confirmed it with Wavves' label: Pope and Hayes do indeed make up Williams' current backing band.
UPDATE: On his MySpace page, Hella drummer Zach Hill, who has been playing with Wavves recently, reports that he's not touring with the band at the moment because he broke his hand during a practice shortly before the current Wavves tour began.
