Clap Your Hands Say Yeah Mulling Unique Distro Deal

Everyone's favorite unsigned overnight success story is moving up to the big leagues...almost. According to the band's manager and college buddy Nick Stern, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah is currently in talks with Warner Music Group's Alternative Distribution Alliance for--you guessed it--a distribution deal. But not just any old distribution deal. See, this whole thing would be done without the middling of a label, as the band would be working with ADA directly.
If the deal goes through, it would be a giant leap for the indiestry (ha ha ha). ADA president Andy Allen told Billboard, "Other than (jam band) O.A.R., who we've had a long-term relationship with, we've never actually done a deal directly with a band."
Stern said that the indie quintet has shipped over 25,000 copies of their self-titled debut since July, an enormous amount considering that many of these orders were filled in the band's Brooklyn apartment.
Regardless of the deal's outcome, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah is riding high on their success for the time being and recently kicked off a tour that will extend late into October. On several of these dates, the act will be supporting The National, which is funny because the tour is a national one, too. Teeheehee.
