Devendra Banhart Launches Label

Just when you thought things couldn稚 possibly get any freak-folkier, here comes good elf Devendra Banhart to lure us all back into the forest. On October 4, the hippie heartthrob, along with kindred spirit Andy Cabic (of Vetiver) and kindred distributor Revolver USA, will loose a record label upon the earth, a record label that shall henceforth be known as Gnomensong. And there will be much rejoicing.
Gnomensong痴 first release will be・ait for it・I>Blank Unstaring Heirs of Doom by Texas singer-songwriter Jana Hunter (Cradle of Filth are so kicking themselves right now for not thinking of that title first.) You might remember Hunter from her former band, Matty & Mossy, or from 擢arm, CA,・her contribution to the Golden Apples of the Sun compilation, which Mr. Banhart curated for Arthur Magazine last year. (Our own Brandon Stosuy called that song 殿 section of hauntingly whispered lo-fi dreaminess.・
Blank Unstaring Heirs of Doom is, according to a press release, 殿 thirteen song 礎est of,・recorded on four-tracks, two-tracks, and computers, mostly in Texas and mostly alone.・Devendra had this to say about Hunter: ・Power Woman is (currently) the main gnomon feeling."
