The Magik Markers Reveal BOSS New Album

After being whittled down from a trio to a duo and going into the studio with Sonic Youth's Lee Ranaldo earlier this year, the Magik Markers have re-entered the outside world. They will release their new record on September 25 via Thurston Moore's label Ecstatic Peace. That record, BOSS, is the band's first official studio album.
Shortly after BOSS' release, the Markers will hit the road. The dates of their tour are still forthcoming, but it will start October 1. Joining guitarist/vocalist Elisa Ambrogio and drummer Pete Nolan in the touring ensemble will be Comets on Fire/Six Organs of Admittance's Ben Chasny and multi-instrumentalist Julie Tomlinson.
Check out Lee Ranaldo talking about working with Magik Markers in this here video clip. If the soundtrack is any indication, he isn't lying when he says this album has actual "songs" on it!

PJ Harvey Plans New Album for September

Polly Jean Harvey and her practically-eponymous musical outfit PJ Harvey will issue White Chalk, the follow-up to 2004's Uh Huh Her, September 24 from Island UK (U.S. release TBA).
NME.com also reports that Chalk, her seventh studio album, was recorded with Flood and John Parish and features instrumental contributions from frequent Harvey collaborator Eric Drew Feldman and the Dirty Three's Jim White. Could the title allude to a newfound love of the pommel horse, or could there be a John Doe haunting Polly's dreams? Speculate on; you've got months.
Polly Jean has a handful of dates to her name at the moment, the first at Manchester's Bridgewater Hall this weekend.
